CDR Roy Yaple, USN (Ret.)
Roy is a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on five nuclear submarines. His assignments included duty aboard USS Sunfish (SSN-649), Main Propulsion Assistant on USS Buffalo (SSN-715), Navigation/Operations Officer on USS James K. Polk (SSBN-645) (Blue) and USS Lewis and Clark (SSBN-644) (Blue), and Executive Officer on USS Woodrow Wilson (SSBN/SSN-624).
During his time on USS Sunfish, he began qualification at Ingalls Shipbuilding and Drydock in Pascagoula, MS. He was a plank owner on the Pre-Commissioning Unit of USS Buffalo at Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock and participated in a submarine overhaul at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. He retired from the Navy in 1998.
He is a long-time resident of Brighton, Michigan, and an active member of the Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).
